Job Overview and key duties
Working closely with UK Local Authorities and Business to Business customers, this role is an external, customer facing sales position with a strong account management element.
Operating within the Environmental division of IPL’s business portfolio, the role holder will manage and sell products into a customer base valued anywhere between £3-6million.
The candidate will be responsible for maintaining relationships with long standing customers as well as forging new working business partnerships with lapsed/dormant accounts. This is a hybrid role, with at least 3 days a weeks in the office, unless attending external customer meetings.
Responsibilities will also include;
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients in the plastics injection moulding industry across accounts of varying sizes
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, addressing enquiries, resolving issues, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Conduct regular business reviews with customers, discussing performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement, and presenting new solutions.
- Conduct research to identify and target new business opportunities
- Develop and implement strategic business development plans to expand market presence and achieve sales targets.
- Proactively identify and approach potential clients, understanding their needs, presenting company capabilities, and negotiating contracts.
- Conduct product and service presentations to potential clients, showcasing the value proposition and benefits of partnering with IPL
- Manage contract negotiations and renewals
- Monitor market trends, competitive landscape, and industry developments to identify potential risks and opportunities.
- Provide accurate sales forecasts, reports, and updates to management, highlighting key account performance and future growth strategies.
- Collaborate with internal teams, such as engineering, planning, production, and quality assurance, to ensure smooth project execution and delivery.
- Attend industry events, trade shows, and conferences to network and generate lead
- Develop a growth strategy focused on sales targets and customer satisfaction
- Prepare and review sales contracts
- Ensure customer records, quotations and sales information are maintained accurately
- Provide customers with after-sales support
- Provide support to the wider Sales team and their accounts

The Person
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Qualified to Degree level in related field and/or equivalent experience
- Proven working experience as a business development manager, Account Manager, Sales executive or a relevant role
- Experience working within the plastics industry would also be beneficial
- Experience delivering client-focused solutions to customer needs
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build effective working relationships (internally and externally) at all levels
- Ability to multi task, prioritise and meet multiple deadlines whilst maintaining excellent levels of attention to detail
- Ability to collate, monitor and report on information in an effective manner to a range of stakeholders
- Ability to utilise Microsoft Office suite of packages, with knowledge and experience using CRM systems
