The IPL Team is looking for a skilled Automation Set-Up Technician in their Springfield/ Urbana, Ohio facility. The Automation Set-Up Technician is responsible for installing and maintaining proper working order of the injection molding machines. This is a SAFETY SENSITIVE position! The technician is responsible for ensuring the machines are working properly and meeting the demands of production. Performs preventative maintenance tasks and visually inspects malfunctioning machines and troubleshoots to determine root cause of malfunction.

The IPL facility is one of the primary manufacturing sites for producing customized thin-wall injection molded containers, lids, overcaps and custom packaging solutions for branded and private label food and consumer product companies all over the world. Position Title: Automation Set-Up Technician

Location: Springfield/ Urbana, Ohio

The successful candidate will:

General

  • Set-up parts handling on production lines.
  • Fabrication and installation of parts handling guarding.
  • Rebuild of spin rods, single filers, conveyors, etc.
  • Repair of machine motors.
  • Management of parts handling preventative maintenance (PM) program.
  • Answer calls related to parts handling equipment to troubleshoot and repair parts handling lines.

Small Part Repairs

  • Troubleshoot wiring and electrical issues.
  • Repair parts handling equipment.
    • Change out spin rods, repair waterfall, etc.
  • Pull runners.
  • Manage parts handling inventory and request order of parts needed through Purchasing department.

Run Production Floor

  • Answer machine alarms/lights to assist in troubleshooting or repairing specific production line issues.
  • Assist in starting up and shutting down specific production lines, as needed.
  • Assist Packers, as needed. (ie: box making, picking parts up out of the bin, etc.).

Food Safety

  • Follow and enforce documented Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and all documented Food Safety (SQF) and company policies and procedures.

Job Requirements/Skills

  • Exhibit a sense of ownership in the results of the production team.
  • Required training (training will be provided in all areas, as needed):
    • Forklift
    • Lockout/Tagout
    • Arc Flash
    • Qualified Electrical
    • First Aid/CPR
    • Fire Extinguisher
    • Hazardous Communication
  • Knowledge of all aspects of the production process.
  • General understanding of:
    • Electric
    • Fabrication
  • Above average math skills.
  • Above average mechanical ability.
  • Basic troubleshooting ability.
  • Positive and professional attitude and demeanor.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment.
  • Ability to make decisions in time sensitive and time critical situations.
  • Ability to learn quickly and with a high degree of accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Ability to analyze and problem-solve during troubleshooting situations.
  • Above average attendance.

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, preferred.
  • Demonstration of knowledge regarding various tools used as a Parts Handling Technician.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment, a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of walking, standing, and working on concrete production floor.
  • Ability to work from tall heights using a lift.
  • Manual dexterity to evaluate, install, and modify equipment.
